The development of the COVID-19 vaccine has been a locus of hope, and occasionally anxiety, for almost a year. Thankfully, several companies have produced vaccines that have now reached distribution phases with growing eligible recipient pools. However, many find themselves facing long wait times for appointments and uncertainty about when the vaccine will reach them. You may be asking: What can I do right now to further protect myself against COVID-19?

You have been social-distancing, wearing masks, and doing your best to stop the spread of COVID-19,  but have you been taking supplements to help your body protect itself?

Powerful Results, Simple Change

New studies strongly suggest that vitamin D and vitamin C may be effective in reducing COVID-19 symptoms and severity. Although these supplements are simple over-the-counter vitamins that you may have in your cabinet, vitamins D and C play important roles in immune system efficiency.

Specifically, it is not a surplus of vitamins D and C that may prevent one from getting COVID-19, rather it’s a deficiency in either or both vitamins that may position one as more likely to experience severe symptoms if COVID-19 is contracted.

So why Risk it?

Vitamin D, most commonly obtained from sunlight and also found in meat, animal byproducts, and several fruits and vegetables, is easily absorbed as a supplement. Likewise, Vitamin C, an antioxidant that is most commonly found in citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, and kiwis, is also available in supplemental form. At Allpeople, you can find these vitamins in many strengths and forms such as gummies, dissolvable pills, and soft-gels.

While it is very common for adults to have vitamin D deficiency, vitamin C deficiency, also known as scurvy, is very rare. However, as these deficiencies can be avoided by simply taking a vitamin, it is important to consider taking these supplements as this decision could significantly impact your health.

Help Yourself While Helping Others

At Allpeople you can contribute to the fight against COVID-19 by purchasing supplements that may lead to diminished COVID-19 symptoms. Remember, with each Allpeople purchase you can choose a nonprofit to receive 5% of your total. Here you can find a list of COVID-19 related nonprofits.

To continue to help others, you must first give your body the tools it needs to help itself. Assessing, and possibly adding to, your vitamin and supplement intake is an easy way to protect yourself from the inside out.
